St Peter Dog Park

It was during a hot humid spell and I just couldn't bring myself to walk the dogs-it's during weather like this that I am thankful for our dog park.

After a bit of hesitation, Peanut made friends with this huge but playful fella.  His owner was told that he was going to be 45 pounds max...so much for that, he is likely closer to 90 but is one big ole hunk of playfulness.

In fact he wore Peanut right out.

 They both took a few minutes to catch their breath

 And then it was doggie pile time-the itty bitty one on the bottom, not minding at all, is Rosco.

It was a nice hour spent on a hot humid day. 

Julia Turns 5- Her Momma Turns......

5 years ago on September 23, Julia Bernice Leonard was born.  Julia and her momma share the same birth date, pretty special I think.

 The cake was very tasty with two flavors of ice cream to choose from

And of course the gifts-this is from mommy and daddy, a new cool as can be back pack

The light that was shinning through the window cast an interesting hue

It makes me happy to see that both girls continue to use that chairs that I made them a few years back

The pool was open and our fish swam away the day.

At the ripe old age of 5, this little girl has the ability to break my heart in a second.  She was having  a 'day' and at one point put her juice down on the table, gave me a look like 'I don't like you anymore' a bit of the stink eye and then ran off to her other grandpa giving him a big ole hug.  Ah Julia, stink eye or no, I know that you love me ;)  

And then she can totally melt my heart when she runs to me as excited as can be with a big old hug.  Thank goodness this is the norm and the stink eye doesn't come very often.

It was a nice day spent with family all around.  Happy birthday to two very special girls.

Grandparent's Day at Daycare

Yesterday Julia and Shelby's daycare held a belated Grandparent's Day celebration.  David and I were honored to be able to go, the look of pure joy on their faces as they saw us heart melting.  David and I split up and rotated, I went to Shelby's area first and David with Julia.  Strawberries with whip cream and of course sprinkles were the treat of the day.

There she is, our little Shelby Marie waiting to get our treats.  I love that their 'class rooms' are a mixed bunch of kids :)

And then it was grandpa's turn with Shelby.

Shelby decided that she wanted to join Julia's group.  Grandpa sat right down with the kids and played.

At one point I had to scold him (imagine that Len and Kel)!  It's often hard to determine who is the 'kid'.

We had toys all over the floor...yikes.  Who has rubber bands in a daycare?  I couldn't believe it when the girls pulled these out, they put them on the dinosaurs to dress them up or some silly thing.  Grandpa wanted to wrap one around his finger and shoot it...see what I mean about who is the kid!

We found ourselves playing stand in grandparents for the kids that didn't have theirs come for whatever reason.  

A fun hour spent with two great kids.  Looking forward to many more of these events.
