So I was told that I should start a blog. However I have never thought that I had much to say that anyone else would want to hear. Imagine my surprise when it was my son that suggested I start a blog and HE is the one who has never listened to what I have to say-so there Lenny!! When my Mom passed I wanted to start a message board to enable the Grunst clan to 'stay connected', however I didnt get that done so this may be the next best thing. As my friends buy motor homes and go on the road full time I also thought that this may be a way to stay connected-although Jan and Mikey already have their very own blog so now you two you will need to keep up with mine huh?
For those that are interested I will use this space to ramble about my breast cancer treatment in hopes of making more people aware of the disease, ramble about my reconstructive surgery experience, perhaps keep everyone posted on our progress up north and maybe post a picture or two that I have taken. I am new to this process so bear with me. I think that you can add
comments to my blogs so feel free to do so.
I will end my very first blog with a picture of our dream in northern MN. This is our little 18x24 cabin being moved to our lot through the streets of Longville. It is now a tad larger with two added rooms, new windows and siding etc.

Hi All:

So, this is what a "blog" is hey? I would have never guessed and I think I have even looked at one a time or two before.

In any event, I'm here to investigate if we are able to comment on the blog and in doing so am attempting to think of something creative to write, but am not doing well in the creative department this a.m.

I have to admit that I do get a bit concerned when additional ways of communication arises in my relationship with the Woelperns who watch me, and I them, like t.v. through our living room windows (we are neighbors), who 90% of my phone calls come from (and probably theirs from me) and, as if this is not enough, who I have been going on vacation with for the past couple of years (yup, I AM David's wife #2) . I have to say though that although I am never able to win at a lottery ticket or raffle my luck was awesome when I met the Wolpernes... they have been a blessing!

Chow,
Jessica

Hi Bobbi,
I like you have never blogged. It is really great to hear from you. WOW so much going on in your life. I was not aware that your mom passed,I so sorry to hear it. Losing my mom a couple of years ago I realize the value of comforting words. I also did not know about your breast cancer. I have a good friend that is a surviver and doing great!!! I have faith that you will be too. Now a cabin up north, very cool. We love it up there. Anna lives up in the North Woods. You may have heard, she got married last May. It was a beautiful wedding and her husband is terrific too. I hope this finds you and that I am not sending this into a giant black hole.
Later,
Peggy

Ok, I'm going to see if this works. I just sent you an email and then I found the Comment thing! I too never new what a blog was. Heard of them but didn't know a thing about them. I love it. I think it's a great way to keep in touch with people. I found it quite entertaining too! And by the way I would have loved to have a few of those curls instead of this straight crap I was blessed with!! But I only have a few strands of gray hair so it's not all bad!

I have now put your blog on My Favorites so I will be checking regularly.

God bless and keep up the great outlook on things.

Jane

Bobbi,

Thanks for educating us all on your breast cancer experience. I thought I would share this tip that was e-mailed to me for Breast Cancer awarness month.

Also, you guys are always welcome in Arizona!!!!! You may have gotten sick of a mobile home any how. Life on the road gets a little harsh after awhile. A cabin in the woods sounds much nicer!!!

Massage and Aromatherapy as Breast Medicine

By: Lisa Saper-Bloom, Healing Arts Specialist

Fall, a time when leaves change color, fires are lit filling the air with comfort and warmth, and the media fills the airwaves with breast cancer prevention.

Each year, women are encouraged to get a mammogram, establish an accountability partner and participate in their own breast examinations. This year I would like to introduce a few new ideas. These ideas come from the healing arts, specifically massage and aromatherapy, and will empower you to take better control of your breast health.

Many spa and massage treatments use a natural bristle body brush to stimulate lymphatic flow. Many people do not realize it is lymphatic flow that creates therapy. When our lymphatic system is circulating properly, we experience relaxation in our muscles and our mind. We are less toxic physically and emotionally. We sleep more soundly and enjoy more productive and less stressful days.

Using a natural bristle body brush at home is easy. You can buy one at Ulta or anywhere with a well-rounded beauty section.

Every evening, when you get home from work, remove your bra and do a quick brushing under your breasts. Simply lift one breast with one hand and brush underneath it with the other hand. Use small brushing stokes in an upward direction toward the heart. This will encourage circulation. Take an extra moment in the underarm. This is an important lymphatic site. Stimulation in this site will help keep the body healthy.

After you take a few minutes with brushing, apply essential oils to the breasts. Make a simple blend of geranium and grapefruit essential oils. Pump a quarter size worth of non-scented body moisturizer into the palm of your hand. Add one drop of geranium and one drop of grapefruit. Make sure these essential oils came from a highly reputable company. Blend your mixture in the palm of your hands by rubbing them together and creating some heat. Apply to your breasts.

Geranium oil helps balance hormones and reduce breast engorgement. Grapefruit oil reduces swelling and removes excess fluid from the body.

Adding these simple techniques to your daily routine will empower you in taking control of your health and may be greatly beneficial in helping to prevent breast cancer.
