No Snow Here

Our days are spent getting out of bed anywhere from 5am-6:30am, doing a few stretches and then off for a walk. they now have an 'ocean walk' that runs all along the windy side of the island. Very nice for walking.Once back we sit on our stoop and have coffee and breakfast then off to the beach. Around 4pm the popcorn man comes calling. Hey Jess, he has a new bike this year. He doesn't use it on the beach but I'm sure it is much better than carrying that basket of stuff from bar to bar after beach time. He also has a new pair of white tennis shoes!
David tried out a possible new hobby. While sitting on our stoop we meet lots of folks. One couple was from Wisconsin and they happened to have a metal detector that they let David try for a day. He was excited about it and was sure that he would have one in his possession soon. So much for that. We didn't find a damned thing (thank goodness) so there will be no metal detector in our future! The things are not cheap! We eat supper in our apartment every other night or we go out to a local establishment. Our Isla friends Dick and Jean took us to a Cuban restaurant. It was a walk of maybe one mile down the island, back in the local area by a lagoon. A great place with good food.

On our way back we stopped to see what the locals were doing. They had a pile of fish fillets on the ground full of salt. They were processing them with salt and they happened to be shark.
Here the fillets are full of salt and lots of flies...yuck! Apparently they get sold to the main land.
And one of the shark mouths.
And a pit stop for a refreshment. apparently this rooster was hungry as Jean had him jumping for a piece of bread!

And later in the evening there we are again on our stoop chatting with the locals and tourists alike. David feeds the pigeons and I talk to the Mexican Gatos (sp?)
The Mexican flower...or our Habiscus
And...hey wait what is this doing here. My good friend Mary and Yoni making sure that we know what we are missing in Minnesota!

Hey guys. This all looks so different. The colors are beautiful. You are so lucky. I can only hope someday I can spend my winters someplace warm. :-)
