No it's not a big huge tidal/Tsunami wave, although it looks like it. It is a 'marine layer' that is covering Point Loma. We went to Dog Beach the day after the devastation in Japan and the waves here were no worse than any other windy day. We suffered no ill affects thank goodness.

We have found a few great dog parks on our travels this year. This one has to be the most fun not only for the dogs but for us as well. It is in Coronado at the end of the beach by 'The Del'. Dogs run off leash here while the people that belong to them enjoy the surf, the sun, the dogs and their people. Most are very responsible 'people' picking up after their dogs as well as assuring they do not bring aggressive dogs to Dog Beach. However there is always the exception. On one of our visits we had just put our chairs down, I was still holding Roscoe and Peeko was saying hello to a HUGE basset hound that came up to us. Next thing we knew that fat blob of a dog was on top of poor Peeko and Peeko was screaming in fear and pain. I separated them to find poor Peeko had a tear in his ear and was afraid to be on his own that entire afternoon. Poor passive Peeko. The basset hound's problem was that he had rotten people who did not watch him and did not care that he just ripped open another dog's ear. No worries, I gave them a piece of my mind and they left the beach. That, thank goodness, has been our only negative experience so on with the positive.......
The minute Roscoe hits the beach he goes looking for people that will love him. Never mind that he is there to socialize with dogs, nah he wants people and makes no bones about jumping on whoever he seems to think is jumpable. Thank goodness he is cute as can be and is able to get by with this behavior! Here he is weaseling his way between a dog and his 'people'.

And then
There are dogs that care about other dogs (these big guys are sniffing Peeko's torn ear)

And dogs that care only about themselves and their hair

There are old dogs of the sea

And young dogs loving the sea

And a pack of dogs

Their are dogs that glisten

And those that do not listen

Dogs that look like rabbits

And those that would love to chase rabbits

There are big dogs

And brand new little dogs

And dogs that look like this

And those that look like that

Dogs that steal toys

Those that bury toys

And those that fetch toys

And those that look like they SHOULD fetch toys (badly needing exercise)

And those that just like to kick back and relax

There are flowers growing out of the sand

And beach art in the sand

And then there are our dogs

Yep, Dog Beach, a great way to spend an afternoon.
