Plunging In The New Year

Although we didn't see midnight again this year we did have a good time new year's eve.  The clubhouse hosted a New Year's Eve party with a meal; chicken fried steak and all of the fixins...but really...chicken fried steak for New Year's Eve....hummmm.  And if you think that's something you should have heard the 'band'.  A husband and wife team (wife from Sleepy Eye MN and I probably need not say more ).  The fella sang and I still am not sure what Rose (from Sleepy Eye) did.  At one point she shined a flashlight around but other than that little talent I just don't know.
Having said all of that, we did spend the night with two couples that we had just met.  Bill and Mary were our neighbors in the park and Susan and James.  I am sure everyone thought that we had had more than our share to drink given all of the laughter coming from our table but alas not much bubbly was actually consumed, just lots of laughs with good people.
Susan yammered all night along about doing a polar plunge to ring in 2012.  I think she's a bit nuts but she tells anyone who will listen.  Come 8:30 Sunday morning I put on my swimsuit top and wearing it and my pajama bottoms we walk to the boat landing.  There she was and had already done the plunge into the cold Colorado river.  She jumped a second time, with me, because I certainly did not want to go alone.  This may not be the MN polar plunge ice and all but the river was cold enough to take my breath away for a minute.

OMGoodness this is quite the shot isn't it but here we are almost in with Mary cheering us on.  Mary had a broken arm so couldn't partake this year.  However next year she promises to join us.

Yep I look cold and yep I am cold but it was really refreshing and kinda fun.  We have decided this is to be an annual event and will be hopefully joined by many more next year.  I wonder if we would need to have a medic on hand....haha

Here they are our partying friends

It so happens that Mary and Bill had not yet seen a burro while here so off we went on a road trip.  Not only did we see burro on the hillsides but David and Bill had to hike up a ways to look at something or another.

They really are an amazing animal these burros

Our new friends pulled out today, we on the other hand will be here for a few more weeks.  Momma Loi and Kelly are joining us for a week in a few weeks.  Looking forward to their visit.
